Brief about the Kolkata Metro Work
Kolkata Metro was the first Metro Railway system in India, opening for commercial services from 1984.
The rolling stock uses Indian gauge a broad gauge track which was manufactured by ICF, Chennai, and the electrical components were manufactured by NGEF, Bangalore. Initially, the rolling stock fleet was composed of 4-car rakes, which over the years,expanded to 8-car rake formation.
Currently these rakes (7 nos.) are undergoing a major rehabilitation work carried out by TITAGARH. Major works, in both, electrical equipments like relay box, cabling, motor and mechanical works like body bolster repairing, cambering, interior furnishing, are being carried out.
